Topic: Simply best with no bells and whistles!
I have been using sahi for more than a year now and have found it among the best open source web testing tools with an edge of being very simple and easy to use.
Its strength lies in its simplicity without any bells and wistles. I found learning sahi took me comparitively much-much less time than other tools.
Its Plus Points:
1. Starting off using sahi isn't gonna cost you much -- neither money nor much of your time.
2. Open source -- you can tailor it to your needs with some programming knowledge
3. Despite being very sleek (a meager 2.2Mb approximately), it provides almost all the features that
one would find in any commercial web testing tool.
4. Great API list that can be extended very easily adding the required one in javascript. (I really liked this!!!)
5. One man army NARAYAN!!! -- spontaneous responses to the queries with robust solutions. Great support.
6. Experimenting with sahi is real fun!
7. Its integration with ANT and other command line tools is really a boon! The negatives ( are there any???):
1. Not meant for very very long scripts that you would expect to run for hours n hours...
I think this issue must have been addressed in the version 2 that uses rhino taking all the computation
load off from the browser to the proxy ( I havn't got much chance to explore the newer version).Well thats all for the time being... yes I will add up to this after I get an opportunity to compare SAHI with other web automation and testing tools.
I would recommend giving SAHI a try... its worth!!!
My best wishes to Narayan, sahi, sahi community and the entire opensource community (thats where the future lies)!
Pankaj.
I am not dead yet.
